Personal rules for internet etiquette
I have two personal rules when it comes to posting on internet forums.
1) don't lie. It's too hard to remember even the smallest of white lies.
2) if it takes me more than 5 minutes to write something, it's probably not worth saying. You have no idea how much trouble this little rule keeps me out of. Goodbye rants and raves etc.
How about you?

....I agree, but will add a no drinking and posting to that

I'll disagree with the 5 minute rule. I prefer to take time to read over a post, especially if it might be taken the wrong way. So writing some replies takes 10 seconds, but some that are more important will take longer.
I try not to bother remarking on political or religious postings, because frankly, it's simply opinions, and everyone has the right to a differing opinion. Only when someone starts to say "Everything MUST go xxx" will I usually feel any urge to comment.
Not lying should be in all aspects of life really. It's much easier to keep track of one truth, than many lies. Unless your girlfriend asks if she looks fat or something that involves some polite fibbing, that is.

If it takes more than 5 minutes to write a post thats arguing with someone sure, but if your trying to explain in depth Ive done that a few times...
uhhh... Dont believe everything you hear. Even though thats not etiquette... Even like on here, I look at post count alot and reputation when people try giving advise... Or when in doubt as a mod/admin, I think they know what theyre doing most of the time
Uhhh... idk.

i mostly look at the "Join Date" because most of the people who are new to owning BPs will join right after getting a BP and need help or just want to socialize =p. i also look at rep ^-^

first part yeah i agree 100% why lie (well unless your one of those lil kids trying to impress everybody. not) i use to be I'd say the biggest liar on the planet i could convince anybody of what i said then my pride and joy was born and i swore to never lie again so he didn't learn to lie just cause he could.
as to the second part one persons agruement is another persons debate (to me debating is not calling names or pointing out flaws in how a person types or talks as part of there debating the subject of a reason of why the person is wrong) to me that would be like saying i keep a boa and you got a python your wrong (types of snakes used just as examples) or your hair is black or brown or blond. so it has no bearing on the issue
i myself post count or rep don't mean squat yeah they may be new to a forum but that don't mean they can't offer a different perspective to look at the situation from. like maybe they had no interest in joining a forum until then. don't mean they necessarily just got there first animal. or it could even be they have a harder life then most and couldn't afford the internet before them joining. or it could even be they just got back into keeping after taking some time to figure out what they were going to do with there lives. and decided to get back into breeding (last time i kept ball pythons a ball python was a ball python not all these morphs (don't quote me but if i rember right there was albinos and maybe some pastels coming out back then). i read a morph list the other day was at 200+ and wasn't even past the c's.
i think even on the net a person should be judged like in real life (as everybody is going to have slightly different views on the same thing). don't mean they are dumb or don't know what they are talking about it means what it means they got a different view point. thats why i think somebody ought to set up a lab style room and try different things in all aspects of keeping what ever kind of herp they got from hatching the eggs to what they do for a full grown adult nearing the end of it's life. and publish the results they had.
i myself would love to see the results of varied temp on hatchings sex ratio's. like whole clutches incubated at a Lil different temp and see if we can have some control over hatching sex ratio's. i know in other herps temp helps determine sex ratio's
i just like to argue and get you riled up dont take it to mean i dont like you or what I'm agueing about. I'm doing it for the joy of argueing dont anybody like good old fashion debates

About post count, sure they could have a decent ammount of knowledge but id rather go with someone who I KNOW, knows what theyre talking about. A lot of people join this site because they are absolutely clueless, and sometimes they still try to offer "information" which turns out to be mis-information.
that would be an experiment/research... You know for a ball python that would take over 20 years. And you cant just do it with a few snakes you would need a huge sample size, and probably of every morph if you want to be thorough. And thats just NOT going to happen...
idk about every one else on here, but why would think that everyone should be judged? Usually thats a bad thing and include ASSUMING things.
Someone should draw their own opinion about another person if thats what you mean. That takes time, and besides that, people can be completely different on the internet than they are in real life so that doesnt really help.
