At the end of my rope
Hey guys, well
I need somewhere to vent after an argument just now in my family about my illness, and this is probably the best place. understanding people, and I dont think anoybody will be as cold hearted as my family and friends have
so here goes
A few years ago the start of my illness began, It started with severe stomach pains
it progressed into heart arrhythmia, Shortness of breath, and pain in all my limbs and joints, and EXTREME insomnia (when I say extreme, I mean I dont sleep for up to 4 days in a row)
I spent years getting tests done only to turn up nothing. I got sent from doctor to doctor and nobody could figure it out
They eventually all gave up and labeled it as Fibromyalgia
Heres where the problem comes in
I am only 17 and my family thinks im a faker... They say im making it up to get out of school... my friends think im lying too and say it to my face which really hurts me.. because no matter how hard I try to explain myself nobody listens
I would be lying to say im not slightly depressed, I went from having tons of friends to having nearly none, went from riding my bike and skateboard to being a coach potato
and nobody listens to me, nobody really understands my situation.
I am extremely angry inside.. at the doctors and my family. If even one person could look at me and say "there is something wrong that we need to get to the bottom of" id be happy
but nobody can even do that.. they just say im a faker
Anyway im done ranting.. just needed to get this off my chest

I do not believe that you have fibromyalgia, yes some of your systoms would probably suggest that, find another dr. (s) for another opinion, sorry you family & friends are being the way they are hang in there

I understand your situation completely. I also have extreme insomnia and I'm sick all the time. I mean, almost every morning I wake up and I feel like a giant ball of crap, and then when I do get sick, I'm sick for weeks.
I graduated, but most of my teachers and friends believed I was just being a drama queen until they actually saw me getting sick, and some of them still didn't believe me.
I really don't have any friends either, it seems they all went away in the last couple months, my best friend is my boyfriend.
My mom abandoned me back in December when I was 17 and now I live with one of my old friends' family..
Thankfully they actually accept the fact that I'm sick a lot, and that sleeping medicine doesn't work...
It will get better, just hang in there and see if you can find a better doctor!

Re: At the end of my rope
Ill tell you this my friend do not give up looking for a Doctor ... back in 2000 my mom was misdiagnosed with fibro and a bunch of other crap and went from doctor to doctor and finally found a doc that properly diagnosed her with Small Fiber Sensory Neuropathy but by the time they got it its is at it highest state and now if the wind blows too hard it hurts her skin. Insomnia, chronic nausea, you name it. Its hard to watch her and her own family thought she did it for attention so needless they no longer are in our lives. She trys to live everyday as best as possible but it is hard. Do Not Give up on finding a solution and my prayers go out to you my friend!

Can anyone of your detractors explain the heart arrhythmia? If you're faking an irregular heart beat you are an extremely unique individual.
Maybe if you can find a doctor willing to work with you and maybe try to diagnose one symptom at a time, they can find an underlying cause for most of your issues.
I just looked at your post again and noticed you're from Canada. If the social medical care the reason no doctor is willing to spend the time to find a diagnosis?
Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about your situation, I hope you are doing better
Sleeping pills dont work for me either
I hope things will get better.. like you said if I find a better doctor that listens and takes things seriously then they will get to the bottom of it

Thank you very much for the prayers and good wishes, I appreciate it!
I am glad your mom got properly diagnosed, It seems like there are a lot of people who have medical problems that dont get the proper diagnosis until its to late, its a shame

This is what I said, I said how can I fake an arrythmia? they said "its unrelated to the main issue"
I said "what a coincidence..."
I hope if I can find a doctor who has the brain to figure this out .. But im not betting on it happening anytime soon
Also, I dont think it has to do with being in canada. I think its just that its such a weird case I think it puts off the doctors that are use to dealing with sniffles and colds
