    Re: A question about Bees

I think everyone would be much better off if things were just called by what basic morphs are in it. Not just with spiders combos, but with every combo. These combo names just get more and more confusing and with new combo's being made all the time it has pretty much become a joke in my opinion.

    What? Are you kidding?

Because, I'm not sure I would want to walk up to a breeder and inquire about a four morph combo. Especially if they are busy. That's like saying Ford, Chevy, and Dodge should just be referred to as cars, trucks, and vans.

"Excuse me, I'm looking for an Axanthic, Pastel, Cinnamon, Spider?" I'm pretty sure you would have to repeat that a few more times. Rather than "Axanthic Pewter Bee." People just need to learn what they mean. It's not that difficult.

I find it pretty confusing...although I've never bothered to really try to memorize everything. I just google it... I even google'd Bumblebee earlier in this thread to make sure I sounded like I knew what I was talking about. getting old stinks...

Yes I would rather say I am looking for a Pastel axanthic spider cinny. You used an example with well know morphs. What about all of these less well known combo names. It is not possible to remember every one of them now and it is only going to get worse.

Call it a whachamacallit, but if I think it looks cool enough compared to the dollar value beside it and the current state of my wallet is in good repair, I'll call it mine!

Lets face it the only reason to know the base morphs involved is for breeding purposes. If your buying a breeder investment you better do your research first anyway and know what you are looking for. Otherwise you could get sold a bag of magic beans that in reality are nothing more than beans!

Also, your example only saved you saying one extra word.

Lol. I'm lazy. I like some of the names too. It does get confusing, but I don't think the real names will ever be lost. I like the names like Panda pied, rather than super black pastel pied. But, you should be able to use either. You can't stop people from abbreviating. It's a tradition. Lol.

I think some of the big breeders do it to keep people guessing what makes the morph

It sounded better in my head. Lol. Panda Pied is better example I guess.

I also find it odd that the recessive stuff seems to have avoided a lot of the combo name mess that happened with the codoms. Not sure why but I am glad they did. I think the only recessive combo name that I can think of that lost the base recessive part in it's name is the snow.
