Name Some Tarantulas!!
I'm really considering expanding my tarantula collection, so I'd like to hear which ones from you T keepers think are best to go with.
So far I've got a Pink toe and a Mexican Redknee, looovvee the Redknees. Getting an A. Versicolor very soon . Not looking into breeding or anything, just keeping T's as a hobby .
Size doesn't exactly matter to me much at all, but I will definitely be doing research on the ones named before I attempt to buy anything.
I do like rather docile species, like the Rosehairs, so anything that stays fairly in a good mood I wouldn't mind keeping it. Doesn't matter to me whether it's terrestrial or not, I could buy whatever tub at Walmart.
Also, does it matter if they are in a tub or in a glass enclosure? I keep my Mexican Redknee in a very very small tub (2.5qt I think?) since he's a little dude so I didn't wanna move him over to anything large. I drilled a lot of holes into it though so it does have good ventilation.

What about a Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens?
-Tub or in a glass enclosure? Does not matter as long as the requirements are met for the specific T and you have proper ventilation

Or my favorite T: Grammostola pulchra

Re: Name Some Tarantulas!!
While Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens are one of my favorites, they can be fast, very skittish and I've actually had a few that were aggressive. But if you are willing to deal with them, they are the most awesome webbers next to C. fimbriatus. They are really a must for any collection.
Grammostola pulchra is a great species and my all time favorite. Very attractive, jet black, pretty docile and chill.
Brachypelma emilia are a pretty decent Brachy to go with. They are one of the least skittish Brachys and I've never seen such excellent feeders. Also, very colorful.
Brachypelma vagans are skittish, but docile. Kinda cute though.
Brachypelma boehmei (Fire Leg) and Brachypelma auratum (Fire Knee) are both skittish, but they are like super duper Mexican Red Knees. Very bright, very attractive. Both are considered docile and I've never seen aggression with the girls I've had/have.
I prefer Brachypelma over Grammostola for their temperament, but both are good starters.
One you become more comfortable with working with aggressive/fast Ts, I'd really suggest you look into Tapinauchenius and Psalmopoeus. Psalmopoeus irminia are really awesome Ts. A lot of the time they'll burrow, but when you do see them, it's a real treat. Tapinauchenius gigas are also very attractive, but probably one of the fastest Ts I've worked with.
Anyway, it's nice to see others on this forum (besides Jeff, myself and a few others) letting inverts take over their house.

GBBs are BEAUTIFUL. I will most likely have one in my collection some day, their coloration is just amazing.
And thanks! I think I might go with tubs since they are just a lot simpler. Tanks hurt my back after a while .

I was definitely thinking of getting this at the Tucson show, they are just amazing. I love that solid black color, definitely awesome .

C. fimbriatus definintely is a looker, I'll look into that one for sure .
I was seriously thinking of getting the Red Rump, the pics I've seen were just incredible. Love those red butts .
Fire Knee is like , I might consider adding one of those to my collection as well.
Suntigers are beautiful T's. I really do like handling everything I keep but having something agressive or defensive every once in a while isn't too bad, especially if it's a T. Snakes are another thing LOL.
So far, Pinktoes are the fastest thing I've delt with. My A. Avicularia is a pain sometimes. She'll tease me and run over onto my back to where I can't reach her. Luckily she's more shy than to try to pose defensively for me, so I do handle her from time to time, just she's very tricky LOL.
I believe I'll be visiting this forum a lot more often now, I've become addicted to T's.

I may possibly get GBB. I wasn't considering getting any bird eaters either, too big of a tarantula for me LOL. My aunt would probably flip out and never come inside our house, ever.

Re: Name Some Tarantulas!!
I don't keep any of my T's in tubs. I tried once but it was not enough distance for me to get away when the hair kickers kicked hair. I mean I could put the lid back on real fast but it didn't work as well for me personally. Plus I had some of the faster ones run out of the tub on me durring feeding, cleaning, watering etc. Feeding you can crack the lid of the tub and pop the cricket in but that just didn't work as well as a KK for me personally. With the kritter keepers it also gives me a little more distance away from the T and to feed all I have to do is open the little window in the middle of the lid and not have to worry about my T bolting on me. Plus you can see eaiser in the KK then tubs. Just some stuff for you to think about

I know someone who has all of his T's in KKs. I was considering the KK thing, still am too. Seems a lot easier than me getting the drill out and drilling a ton of abnoctious holes in tubs.

Re: Name Some Tarantulas!!
I use a mix of different enclosures. Whatever works for that species. I generally only use tubs for terrestrial inverts. Since urticating hairs don't bother me, the only thing I worry about with tubs is a fast Tarantula and not being able to snap the lid on fast enough.
