    Thinking About Doing a Rack

I'm getting another snake in a few months and considering I'll probably breed her in the future, I'm thinking about just doing a rack system. Viv's are just going to get too expensive and cluttering my room if i keep buying them for each and every snake. The snake I currently have, since he's my only one, is in an aquarium. I'm going to leave him in there since I've always had him in there and don't want to stress him out, plus I like to watch him at night in my room. Do snakes that stay in rack systems, are they more nervous being held since their so use to being in a tub? I'm nervous cause I'm new to all this! Thanks!

Re: Thinking About Doing a Rack

Each snake has its own personality but I find the more the snake is handled and the bigger the snake physically is, the more tolerant they are, but thats not going to hold true for many snakes, just a very general thing to say.

honestly I would see a rack system being better, they have a safe place to stay at then, they can come out of their comfort zone, then go back to a safe place. opposed to being in an open aquarium, then being taken out, and back into an open aquarium.

all my snakes besides the big ones are in rack systems, I have snakes that are awesome when their out and some that just want to hide. I don't think the rack system has much effect on it, more how much I handle the snake. then i have some that don't get handled hardly ever and still don't care. each snake is different.

I'll never go back to aquariums/tanks. They do much better in the racks (IMO). Humidity is way easier to maintain which is huge for me here in michigan. Winter gets very dry and I had a really tough time with sheds before I used racks.

The only downfall of a rack is you have all this room for more snakes so you gotta fill em haha...I would definitely make the switch if I was you!

I suggest RBI if you'll purchase one, absolutely love it and the cost is actually pretty fair for what you get.

When you breed, may I suggest:

As for larger, I still havent found the rack that I like, so I cant give advice on that, but check out the DIY section, search through it and find what you like.

Re: Thinking About Doing a Rack

Boaphile's are really nice to. Especially the smaller see-thru tubs they use with the chrome handles. I just ordered the ballroom rack and the next day after I ordered it, I stumbled on the RBI racks. I like the tub design much better on the RBI racks than the Sterlite 41qt that boaphile uses. If I were to get a 32qt or smaller, I would definitely go with boaphile.

Thats what I'm afraid off.... My dad was like....well if your just gonna get one more snake, its really not worth getting a rack. And I was like...hence why I wanna get a rack, I'm not gonna get just one more snake!
