Genetics question about Lemon Blasts
Hello everyone,
I hope none of this has been asked too many times.
I'm thinking of getting into some of the Ball Python morphs. I'd like to breed some specific morphs which I like.
First, I'd like to pick up a Pastel and a Pinstripe. So my question is, if bred together, would my calculations of - 50% of the clutch could be Lemon Blasts (Het Pastel, Het Pinstripe) be correct?
And, is there a specific name for an Albino Lemon Blast, and does anyone have picture of one?
I'm new to Ball Python genetics, but not genetics in general. I'm more use to Boa genetics.
I would like to get into the Ball Pythons. Currently I don't own any, but they were some of my first snakes and I'd like to get some again.
Thanks,
John

No, you would not have het pastels or pinstripes. Your chances would be pinstripes, pastels, lemon blasts, and normals. You would not have hets for anything.
Ball Pythons:
0.1.0 Bumble Bee- Schnapps
0.1.0 Pinstripe- Penny
0.1.0 Super Cinnamon- Cleo
0.1.0 Albino- Daiquiri
0.1.0 Low White Piebald- Hershey
1.0.0 Low White Piebald- Reese
1.0.0 Paradox Super Cinnamon- Dash
1.0.0 100% Het. Albino- Jester
1.0.0 50% Het. Albino Jake

I love it. If you want to choose more than one morph for a parent just hit ctrl, and click the different morps. Try doing a forum search for an albino pin. I know someone has one. There is a guy around here who does a lot of albino crosses. Albino's Unlimited I think. Look him up. He has an awesome website. Good Luck!

I think he was implying that lemon blasts are heterozygous for the pastel trait and heterozygous for the pinstripe trait as well.. which would be correct, but his % calculations were indeed wrong.

Yes, I'm not sure how I pulled up 50%, I think that was a typing error as I don't really understand what I did to get that figure. I may have put one of the traits as Homozygous. I'll be using the BP Wizard linked above from now on, so no more mistakes LOL.

Re: Genetics question about Lemon Blasts
Statistics are strictly that with ball pythons and no guarentee that you will have those specific statistics when eggs hatch. For example if a pastel is bred to a normal, the odds should be 50% normal and 50% pastel but the actuality can sway either way, you could possibly end up with 1 pastel and 5 normals out of 6 eggs or vise versa
