Keeping your BPs at a certain size

They say if he gets too big he won't breed as well. Idk if it's true, but it seems kinda cruel to intentionally starve an animal that would naturally continue to grow it's entire life enough to stop that growth.

In my limited experience, it's not true. My 1800 gram lemon pastel didn't get the memo that he's supposed to be a poor breeder.

I don't worry about keeping things a certain size. I feed my animals, make sure that they are healthy and well proportioned and in the end, that's all that matters for me and mine.

They are offered food like everyone else, but they only eat about 4 rats per year.

I don't see what you do as cruel or wrong. Every three weeks doesn't hurt them. Yours sound like my friend's. It maintains itself.

Maybe I had an extreme case in mind. Like deciding children shouldn't get over 100 lbs or something.

I thought that is what you meant, but just wanted to show both sides of the coin, if you know what I mean.
