I finally got results from my hairless x hairless/ silkie pairing.
The hairless gene is the recessive one.
The hair is super short and extremely soft, it looks like they got their hair buzzed lol
super stoked to finally get a breeding group of them?

nice i cant find hairless around here for anything. pretty much jsut need that to make my collection complete so to speak since i have rex and dumbo already

just keep looking, you'll find one sooner or later. I had to get the original silkie/hairless all the way from iowa. Im still working on getting rex but i have more than enough dumbos.

Hey, just saw these pics.. U know, if you look at your pics of these rats, their hair has a wavey look to them.. that would actually be what we in the rat fancy breeding world usually call a double rex. True hairless tend to have shorter hair than in your pics, however, they are usually patchy and bald looking as they mature unless they happen to be one of the few actual hairless rats I have seen.

Nope. Kinda curly looking ..some more than others. Double rex have wavey looking hair..where-as, a hairless does not ever.

These are dwarf ratties, Double Velveteen and a standard coat.
Velveteen is similar to rex and will make doubles with rex also.
OP: Do you have pics of the parents?
They do look more like Recessive hairless than doubles to me....

Hello, how's the breeding project going? Also where did you get your original breeding stock from? How much did it cost? Doesn't look like a rex it reminds me of either curly coat variation. Possible even variation 3 plush velveteen.
