    Re: Your Tank :)

Hey New_Girl! Just a few suggestions for your new setup...

    - Get some sort of background or black poster board to cover three sides of your tank, ball pythons like their privacy and to feel secure. He may get stressed because of the open sides and back. You can use foam core/poster board or go to a petstore and buy an aquarium background. The foam core will insulate it tho.
    - you may also want to get some plants or something to fill up some space to make him feel more secure. They don't need a ton of open space as they usually are in their hides anyways.
    - Make sure you have your thermometer probes in the right places, you want to measure the cool side and the hot side, also ambient temp and humidity. The hot side probe especially should be between the glass and the substrate so you know the hottest point your snake can get to. (assuming you have a uth)
    - are the hides identical? I can't really tell from the pic. If not, it is preferred that they are both the same that way your snake doesnt have to sacrifice its temperature to be in its favorite hide.

I think thats it for now! I started out with a very similar setup and then through reading the threads on here realized I needed to fix a few things, so I thought i'd give you some advice to start off! Enjoy your new baby!

    Re: Your Tank :)

75 Gallon glass, Exo Terra Heatwave UTH, ZooMed 150W Ceramic heat element, Zilla 1000W Thermostat. The hide is a small Walmart tub I cut in half the long way because it was way to tall, I have bark over the top of it, and a substrate to keep it nice and dark...although he only uses it after he eats. Once he eats he will spend a day or two in that hide over the UTH, then head back under his water dish never to be seen again, lol.
I have been searching for an acurite but cant find one around here so I may have to order one, the temps are good so Im in no hurry. I have just over half the top covered with foam core thats been covered in foil, wich has been a big help. And I use a small 34W regular bulb at an angle to give enough light so the tank looks nice. Not the coolest setup but he is happy so I dont mess with it.
(Yes! Those are NES games on the floor, I just got an NES, 13 games and some controllers for $30 at a yard sale, lol. That was my first game system, it just came out when I was like 10 years old and mom bought me one, had to have it, spent hours playing mario when I was a kid)

Down below is a 40 gallon breeder waiting for a new resident, not sure what will go in it, but I do know it WILL be another snake (I AM OPEN TO PIED DONATIONS!!! haha ) , perhaps an IJ Carpet or another Ball, who knows. I think its to big even for an adult Corn (Sunglow Motley) or that Licorice Ratsnake I have been wanting...its a far cry from a 20 long. And just to the left is my Crested Gecko enclosure due to be cleaned tomorrow.
