The Soockie Stackhouse novels are a rare exception where their on-screen adaptation is better than the original.

I just finished True Blood S3 ep 3, good stuff.

Yes, for some reason those are just painful for me, I don't know why I think the voice of the text just rubs me the wrong way. But I love me some True Blood. However NOTHING beats Dexter .

You would be surprised how many young adults don't read because they are intimidated by the size and difficulty of a book.

Oh I realize this. And that's the saddest part of all. Seriously, by the age of highschool/college a person should be able to pick up a novel and read it, maybe not Catch 22 or Anne Rice or Poe, but at least Brave New World or Stranger in a Strange Land (I use them for comparison as I dont have much else aside from satire and a bit of sci fi/fantasy to fall back on, most of my reading material is in text books).

Its kind of sad when you know someone who likes sci fi movies, but they cant keep up with Douglas Adams *sigh*

I've read all the books and own them. I'm going to see Eclipse tomorrow, then I'll have seen all of them so far. I hated New Moon. I hate Robert Pattinson, I think he's a terrible actor. Kristen Stewart is getting better, she got lucky with the character being as awkward as her acting is. I look forward to how she'll pull off the last movie.

The books were incredibly easy to read, that's probly why I read them. I was working at Subway at the time and would read them to get away from everything. It worked well. I never got caught up in all of it like most people did. My BF's sister did, and sometimes I just wish there was an off button to the subject of Twilight, lol. I typically try to hide that I read and own the books, because I don't want to be categorized. I have a Twilight shirt (Actually wearing it now, lol) I don't like wearing it alot, I can feel the stares I get when I do wear it. Fortunately it's a simple shirt and doesn't have any huge pictures of the actors on it, so it doesn't attract that much attention.

After I read all 4 I tried to read The Host by the same author... Now that book sucked, lol. I didn't even finish it cuz it was so slow. Ever since I read the series though I've tried to read more, and am branching out into other things. Yeah it took Twilight to get me back into reading... But whatever works.

Avoid Tolkien, Poe and Rice. Rice I only suggest if you're hardcore into vampires or if you like thinking about boys in bed together, otherwise it's slow.

By the way for anyone, if you want something that's a quick read for any given book, funny, short, and all around awesome, pick up Terry Pratchett's Disc World series, I ended up owning and reading almost all of them... quit when I started picking up text books, neuroscience, philosophy, etc because it's far too simple to appeal to me much anymore. Still a great series and quite a bit better written than Twilight/Harry Potter.

And this is exactly why I am all for these books or any kind of literature !

It's when I'm in the middle of those sort of books that I turn to the lighter literature the most, haha my brain needs to have balance! It's like, I can be so into movies like Schindler's List and be so emotionally moved and follow all of the symbolic cues etc but ...I can enjoy watching the Devil Wears Prada too haha.

I was taking a Literary Theory and Criticism class during the Winter Qtr and half way through Foucault, Derrida, and Strauss I was happy to have a little bit of Robin Hobb on the side.

It's when I'm in the middle of those sort of books that I turn to the lighter literature the most, haha my brain needs to have balance! It's like, I can be so into movies like Schindler's List and be so emotionally moved and follow all of the symbolic cues etc but ...I can enjoy watching the Devil Wears Prada too haha.

Those are the things I turn to for enjoyment ~_~ Calculus, Biology, Philosophy, these things make me all giddy. Algebra based physics, english courses with bad teachers, psychology, etc... they just make me feel like I am wasting all my time and I start to fall asleep, so I try running through some integrals or reading about the neurotransmitters involved in love.

That's why I'm aiming towards Neurosurgery.

I really wish more people were raised around books. I was raised in front of a TV and it took a long time before I grew past it, and ultimately I dropped it from my life, and now I just dont see why so many people just sit in front of them all the time, they're horrible and I have no intention of ever having a television in my life again. But even sitting in front of the TV for the majority of my childhood I did manage to read and enjoyed it, from the magic school bus up to Catch 22.

I watched almost no television when I was younger. I spent most of my time outside, and because I was the only child I had to hang around my older cousins and they did fun things like go to the orchards and play rotten fruit war. Funny that I was usually the dirtiest when I came home, guess I was an easy target lol (<3 those guys). But anyway, I didn't really read or watch television.

Now I'd say I read at least 10 academic books a month (depending on difficulty and length) plus journal articles and maybe 1 or 2 fun ones. Everyday for about 5 years my dad told me that I had to grow up to be a Supreme Court Justice and they read a lot so he would force me to read and now I genuinely enjoy it. But my dad is going to have to settle for a lawyer (or an English teacher it depends how my LSAT goes haha, just kidding...I hope).


That being said I also watch a disgusting amount of television. There isn't much that I DON'T watch. I don't sleep much o______o because that's not even counting how much time I spend on the internet.

I missed 1 and 2 but went to see ecilpse the other day with my friend and really liked it. There is still another book isnt there? Which they are making into 2 movies.
