    So excited - he ate!

The person I got my new BP from told me to try to feed a day or two after he arrived, but not to be surprised if he didn't take. I knew I didn't have amazing odds - he was previously on live and I was gonna try f/t, plus he'd only been here a short while. Well, I went out on a whim and thought I'd try to feed Snicket tonight.

So I got the mouse thawed, and then went to feed him. I saw something inside one of the hides (I assumed it was him), so I picked the other one up to get it out of the way... and lo and behold, he was actually in that hide, and I knew then and there that I probably freaked him out so he wouldn't eat. I put the mouse in anyway and he didn't seem interested at all. At this point, I was sure that I'd ruined any chance I had. I figured it couldn't hurt to leave it in there overnight anyway.

About an hour later I realized I hadn't put the extra clips back on the lid, so I went to do that.. and the mouse was gone, and he was in the hide.

So not only did he take his first meal here, he took his first f/t meal too!

Congratulations! Just make sure in the morning you do a quick check to make sure it's not just laying in one of the hides...

Nice! It's always a happy day when the bps eat. My adult male ate last night too, it was only the second time since his winter fast. Whew!

    hahaha no no...they didn't have any rats ( shipment didn't show )

I'm actually thinking about getting a colony, but need to do some research on prices and suppliers.

Re: So excited - he ate!

I had to switch my BP to 2 jumbo mice instead of 1 med. rat due to what the pet store has to offer, and I fed her 2 days after I got her and she did good. I freaked out a bit a few days later when I thought she had regurged, but it was just a big ol turd. I had never seen snake poop before and it looks like any other......
