The female could be better chance-wise. But consider you'll probably get her as a baby, then it will take 2-3 years to get her up to size. With the male you could have him bred to your two females within a year/year and a half.

One female producing 4-7 eggs in 3 years with a 25% chance of getting a honey bee, vs 2 females producing 8-14 eggs twice with a 12.5% chance.

It is up to you, but at your current needs and availability I'd go with the male.

True, both female hets will be ready this upcoming Jan, Feb and the male is almost ready now. I wasn't going to buy a baby 1.0 spider het ghost I was planning on spending some extra and going for the larger female spider at around 800grams and up to hopefully have her ready by Jan, Feb. Just really seems impossible to find.

Thats a good point. But what weight are your current females? If they're gunna be 1500g by January then waiting til march/april for a male to hit around 500+g, or already getting a larger one, then you may be better off.

I'd say either look for a proven breeder female, or a male of most any size.

If you want the female come up with an offer price and contact breeders, you can find them all over this site.

My females are both a little over 1100grams and pound f/t medium sized rats weekly. My male hypo is a little under 400 grams and I feel will definitely be over 600grams within the next 6 months no problem. He also pounds f/t small rats. If only my 0.1 mojave het hypo would be ready this year.

    Re: Virgin Females

Virgin females will never lay anything. Hence the term "virgin".

And as already said, no it should have no influence on the clutch size.

She was no longer a virgin if she laid eggs. They're only virgins until they are locked with a male, after that they are breeders.

Edit: nevermind I just realized that you got the reference after your first post. lol
