Yeah I was thinking the same. I was expecting him to have some influence on their pattern...maybe I just struck out on that clutch and as you said, hopefully his trait carries over to the cinnamon clutch.

I thought I saw a lot of single 'eyes' and floating alien heads on some of those. I wouldn't write them off entirely. There were some aberrant patterns among the more normal looking ones.

yeah...I was hoping for more of a distinction between normals and trait "x"... I would like to think the normals have something special going on, but then again I feel I am just over-analyzing them on top of wishful thinking...

I hope there is more of something going on with the cinnamon.

Re: A new project of mine...

I have been extremely busy as of late...but I thought I would give this thread perhaps its final update.

7 of the 8 eggs hatched from the dinkerXcinny pairing. 3 cinnies, 4 normals...the 8th egg did not go full term.

    But

They all hatched with a deformity of sort...most deformities dealing with their eyes. Most have bug-eyes....a couple a bug-eye and with the other eye being so small it doesn't look like it exists...some duckbilling going on and from what I can notice a couple tongues aren't forked while others haven't shown their tongues off...if they have one.

I am not sure how this will affect their quality of life as the deformities I have seen are all topical and I have no clue what is going on internally. I had to tie-off a few yolk-sacs that were not being absorbed.

I am not sure what the cause is:

    A. Incubation temps...which I hope is not the case, I have a her/pied clutch due to hatch next week incubated next to this clutch.

    B. Genetics...perhaps the dinker DOES have something going on genetically unfortunately his genetics are not compatible with a cinnamons?

    C. Just the reality of this hobby and sometimes things don't go as planned.

    D. Something else...

I may post pics if they make it thru their first shed.

My question now after this clutch is....do I continue breeding this dinker next season?
