I personally don't see a point in cutting at day 30 if they don't come out until day 52-55! I think its not worth the risk of causing harm to the snakes for ONLY your pleasure! I personally would never buy from a breeder with these practices!

While I don't agree with cutting the eggs at day 30, I also don't agree with cutting them at day 55. The little guys come out on their own, eventually. That being said, it's all about whatever works for you and obviously, it works for the OP. I seriously doubt he would put a potentially expensive offspring at risk if he had bad luck in the past.

IMO, the egg was cut too early, but I'm pretty sure people would be surprised how many large breeders cut at day 40 (and some under). I'm glad it's doing fine though, good luck with the little guy.

I would buy from a breeder that cut at day 2 if they cared for there snakes and didn't sell bad hatchlings. There's a lot more people with a lot more experience who have had success.

And besides he/she didn't come here for your opinion on cutting, your opinion on sharing the pics.

Thanks for the pics, please don't be discouraged. We all love seeing pics of new snakes! P.s. That thing is freakin gorgeous!

I'm afraid I'll have to agree.

This thing obviously survived after being cut open on day 30 something, survived being dumped out, put back in, and is still thriving how many days later? This guy is experienced and if what he says is true about not loosing any babies from his practices, how can anyone say what he does is wrong? What's the basis? Sure it's just impatience, but if that's what he does, that's what he does. If he kills babies, what does that matter to any of us?

Regardless, this is a matter of what you feel comfortable with, not what you think other people should do. I would never cut on day 30 something because I'm not comfortable with it, not because it will kill the baby (I know there are many other big breeders that cut around day 35), but because I don't know how to keep them alive and well for that many days. It's impatient to cut the eggs at day 53 or after the first one pips, but no one says anything about that. It's a matter of what people are comfortable with. Simple as that.

Anyway, I'm off my soapbox. Congrats OP and just remember everyone on here thinks their way is the best and ONLY way. I think you already know that though.
