BIG snake, small meal
Hey gang!
Currently have a 2010 baby BP, has been eating live hopper mice. I am breeding my own mice. Quick question for you gurus out there... In later years of this snakes life when it is much larger, if I decide or cannot breed rats or the snake will not prefer to eat rats I would consider staying with mice. However, the adult mice are a small prey item for a full grown adult BP. If I had to stick with breeding/feeding mice, would it be better to feed one every 3-5 days, or to feed 2 every 7-10 days?

not sure my uncle has a full grown burm and feeds it chickens and rabbits that he gets from a farmer. i would say that it would not be enough and u would have to feed him alot.

Re: BIG snake, small meal
Several people here have adult BP mice eaters. Most of them take 4-6 mice at a time once a week or so.
The key of course is not to overdo it. It will take quite some time before it gets that big, but be forewarned they can eat a LOT of mice as they get bigger.

Re: BIG snake, small meal
Feeding often is not a problem (have several mouse colonies), my concern is: Feed 1 adult mouse twice as often, or feed 2 adult mice at a time. Or, will I have to go to rats no matter what?

Re: BIG snake, small meal
You would have to feed multiples of mice to equal a medium rat which is a typical meal for an adult bp.

Re: BIG snake, small meal
There is no reason to ever feed a BP a mouse if you have access to appropriately sized rats.
