Well you would have to keep replacing them as they start absorb feces and other stuff and building bacteria on it.

Oh ok. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I clean my cages.

I use some small ones for my colubrids. They use them but they seem to prefer "the plate with a hole knocked in it" hides I made for the same price.


Still I think for adult BP's I'd either use them or a kitty litter pan.

The only thing I don't like about them is that they are too light. A really active night exploring snake will push that hide all over the place. I had to switch hides with one of my less active BPs. Its worked out so far.

This is probably stupid question but why not make your own hides from a cardboard box? Or is it because it looks better?

Cardboard box can absorb bacteria. I tried it once and the same night I made it, my BP pooped right along the wall. I had to throw it away right after wards.

If the hide is in a rack, that is actually a good thing. Mine dont push it pass the middle of the tub, and if they tried the water bowl is there to stop them.
