    She said yes! ...Sort of..

Well, after doing a lot of re-researching and saving up some money for all of the supplies, I asked my mom if I could get a BP for my birthday. Initially she said no, and told me that she didn't like BP's and she liked RTB's and all of this stuff. I like RTB's too but I would rather have something a bit smaller. Anyway, after some convincing by my sister's and I, telling her that I would pay for everything the snake needed and that I would feed f/t, she said I need to be really nice and that if I have had a good attitude until my bday then I can have one.

So not a solid yes, but knowing my mother, this means I can get one

Now all I have to do is order the thermostat/heat mat/thermometer, set it up for a while, then get the snake. I'm really happy!

Sorry, this is kind of random but I'm just really excited. Now I don't feel so ~secretive about all of my planning/research/money saving haha.

I'm hoping to get either a pastel or mojave at Repticon in July if she'll let me go.

Very glad to know you planned ahead of time to get everything set up!

If you don't want something that can eventually brown out at an older age, I'd say a Mojo is the way to go. From what I've seen most Pastels will brown out before adulthood, and from what I know Mojos stay a pretty nice coloration to them, depending on how good of quality you get.

Good luck with the setup, convincing, and snake! I would kill to have my first Ball python as a morph if I had joined two years ago I've got a Pastel and Spider now, both in shed

Well, this actually isn't my first ball python, I've had two before (as well as 2 boas, not including the ones my parents had when I was really young) but it's been nearly 5 years. They were both normals. I had to get rid of them due to living situations when we made a big move. I only had them for about a year total.

However, this will be my first "independent" ball python, lol. I was about 12 when I had my other two, and I couldn't handle feeding live mice [had no access to f/t then] so regrettably my mother ended up feeding them for me because I would get really emotional. Now that I've grown up a bit and we have access to f/t at the pet store (I already checked) I'm definitely cool with feeding and doing everything myself. Part of the reason that I was getting so prepared and set up in advance (in reality my bday is in two months) was because I wanted to make sure she knew that this wasn't going to be another 'Mom ends up taking care of the pet' kind of deal.

Thanks I've been leaning toward a Mojo, myself, for mostly the reason you stated. Plus I just really like the look of them in general.

Cool, I remember when I had to ask my mom for everything too. Good times.

I completely understand what you mean, except it's backwards for me: My mom ends up getting a snake, couple weeks to about a month later it's considered mine because I care for it better LOL.

Mojos are real nice, I'm getting more of an interest in them. I used to not like them, but hey, some individuals do look really nice!

Haha I know, that's what I was saying lol. Probably just because she used to keep boas herself. She was the one who got me into snakes in the first place haha.
