    umbilical mark

a post by BrandonsBalls got me thinking. when i bought my normal i could see a little pink line where i assumed her umbilical chord was. how old do u think she was if i was still able to see the pink line left behind? it cleared up after about 2 weeks.
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

You can't tell age by that - I still see it in my adults if I look for it.

    Re: umbilical mark

My adults and sub-adults all have slits in their scales about 2/3 of the way down, which I call their "belly-buttons." But I don't know if I've ever gotten a snake young enough for it to be _pink_.

I have gotten a snake young enough to see a red-pink gap where their eggtooth had fallen out. That girl was between 3 and 4 weeks old. After her next shed it was still clearly a hole, but it wasn't pink; another shed after that, her upper lip looked more or less the same as everybody else's.

My 2 year olds still show them but they are a bit hard to find.

    Re: umbilical mark

A 20year old would show an umbilical line but for it to be pink I would assume that it was a snake that brought a large umbilcus out of the egg (took long to fall off) if it was pink i would assume if it were pink from this reason it was within the first two sheds from 10-14 days out of the egg to 30-60 days out of the egg.

anytime after that the ecdysis would correct the wound unless it was really bad like ripped out of the egg.
