Don't some BP lose their coloration when they are underfed?
No bubbles bursting. The same thoughts have gone thru my head. Weather she's axanthic or not, I still love her all the same.

Re: Axanthic?
Malnutrition could cause the strange pigmentation. I have a feeling that after she gets on a good feeding schedule she will change colors.
Also, putting a normal male in with her would only give you a bunch of normal looking babies that would be (possibly) het for axanthic. If you want to prove her out in one season, you would need a het axanthic male or an axanthic male.

Without knowing the line of Axanthic, that would be a pricey long shot. If you really wanna prove it, you are most likely gonna have to take the longer way.

Re: Axanthic?
10 years ago most BPs in pet stores were imports or CH. It could very well be an AX as this is how most of the recessive traits were discovered. Once in awhile one would come in on a shiment. In order to prove it to be a definate AX you would need to put an AX to it. You could also do a 100% het AX and you would get normals and AX.
Its a project worth looking into.
Oh darn Steffe beat me to it.

I helped out Kaorte! lol.
I would suggest putting her with the most high yellow male you have. Maybe a pastel? I'm thinking of crossing mine with my Fire

Re: Axanthic?
Good god that's a good craigslist deal! IMO she/he is axanthic as long as the colors haven't changed for some odd reason. Definitely worth proving, and not at all surprising that it slipped past as a normal, it's not the first time! I would just breed him or her back to it's daughters/sons untill you get something, or give up
