City considers stepping up oversight of exotic pets

Kind of surprised that horses are on the list of animals that would need a permit. No mention of pythons but boas are on the list.

boa with the potential to exceed 12 feet
That's a relief at least, I can't stand reading bylaws that just outright ban boas and pythons, assuming they're all gigantic. There are plenty of colubrids that get bigger than many species of boas and pythons, so at least if this passes the city won't be completly restricted from some of the more commonly keep pets.

This would just be the first step to eliminating these animals as viable pets.

By submitting to a permit system, you are now providing a list for the government to use, when they want to completely eliminate these animals as pets.

This tactic has been used many time in the past with other items. It is a very efficient way for the government to gain control of a situation.

Find it interesting that horses, cattle, and goats are all considered "Exotic".
