Me personally if hes 17+ and has had a snake for a year or more i see no reason why he cant try his hand at breeding.
I guess he could always spend that $200 he wanted to spend on a snake and go buy some crack and smoke it up.
Id much rather see our youth buying snakes and learning about them then spending it on other things like drugs

So what I'm wondering is, would some of you have been as harsh if he had said "I'm thinking about getting a dog?" How about a bunny? A Garter Snake? Responsibility is best taken with baby steps, and a BP is a lot less work than a dog.
If you don't have your heart set on a BP, I'd look at other snakes before actually getting one. Honestly, there is more personality in my little 4 foot King Snake than there is in any of my BPs (not that I don't love them as much ), and he's a lot easier to care for. Garters are really cool and come in some amazing varieties, watching them fish for food is amazing, and you can make them awesome setups. As someone who loves displays, it is sometimes disappointing to have these beautiful little snakes in racks, but you have to do what's best for the individual animal. Speaking from having both display snakes and BPs, while both are awesome to have, it is way cool to watch a snake dig and climb and use a big live-planted cage to the fullest.
Not trying to change your mind, just giving you something to think about. And everyone who's being mean, let's be a little kinder, shall we? Everyone has to start off somewhere, and where will our beloved animals and the industry be in thirty years if we keep on being rude to newcomers?

Saying by the time he gets his bp. and has it for a year he will be around 17-18 which at that time i think it would be fine for him to try his hand at breeding. And that most people dont move out from home soon as they grad.
And him spending money on snakes to breed is better then going out and smoking crack

Snakes > Drugs
He's 15 years old. So how will he be 17-18 after a year of owning one?
But seriously dude, the "drug" thing makes no sense. Why would your only 2 options be buying a Ball Python or smoking crack? Please....
Theres other options like "save your money till your entirely sure" or "buy a car". It dosn't have to be buy a snake or smoke crack cocaine does it? wtf

ok one say hes 15 i doubt he JUST turned 15. Most likely closer to 16 just a guess tho
So 16 1/2 maybe 16 3/4 close enough.
Why are u so set on the car thing? Maybe he dont want a car? I know many people who DONT want to drive.
At some points id rather have a bunch of snakes rather then a car.

Not to sound like a jerk even more.... but where will you go in life without a car? Seriously.... You can't even have a job if you don't have a car unless you live a few blocks away or have like a train to take in a big city.
So if he's planning on getting a job to "buy a super pastel and killer bees yada yada yada" hows he going to get to work? Have his parents drive him to work everyday till he builds up his multi-thousand dollar collection? Isn't there a thing in life called priorities? Or has this idea of "priorities" completely gone to crap? You guys think I am being mean or whatever but your seriously leading this kid on to be completely dissapointed.
