Definitely make a vacation out of it! I usually come up from St. Louis on Friday and stay till Monday. I promise you'll have a good time!!

You really can spend a lot of time at the show. I usually get there 30-45 minutes before the doors open - there is always a HUGE line outside the doors and it takes a while to get in. I always feel a little rushed when the doors open - I'm always worried that someone will grab that "perfect snake for the perfect price" before I get a chance to see it/buy it! Once I have made may way around the entire show I settle down a bit and go over the show again - but I really take my time and make sure to talk to as many people as I can. At that point it has been 2-3 hours so I usually go out for some breakfast (since I was too excited to eat anything when I woke up, at this point I'm starving!). Then I usually make my way back to the show for another round - and every time I end up seeing a handful of animals I missed the first 2 times I went through!!

I would say I usually end up spending 3-5 hours at the show on day one. I always attend the PIJAC auction afterward which is a lot of fun - it usually goes on for a good 3 hours!

Day 2 tends to feel a little more relaxed. I take my time to go over everything and I always see things I missed the first day. A handful of the vendors have more animals then they do display space so whenever they sell an animal they will replace it with a new one. On day 2 prices become much more negotiable so I spend a LOT of time walking around, looking at great deals, wishing I had more money!

After spending a few hours at the show I usually end up making my way to the city. I have a friend that works at the Shedd Aquarium so I'll make my way over there for a bit (if you've never been I recommend it - great aquarium). Plenty of fun things to do in the city. I usually don't stay out for long though - I always want to get back to my hotel room so I can visit all the beautiful new animals I purchased!

Oooohhh I'm getting all excited just talking about it.

Dang. Okay, now I'm all excited for something that's isn't happening for several more months. I know what you mean about traffic, though. I live five minutes away and never make it there when I want to! I am all for geeky nametags!

lol dang nice little info packet there. Yeah I have been to Chicago plenty of times because I live so close, so spending an entire weekend there is kinda out of the picture. I think I would get bored roaming the city for that long again.

But hey, you quoted my post and someone elses post and merged them together lol. I never went to that show in MI. Ive only been to the small show in Wheaton. That was a dissapointment to be honest.

But this is definately getting me pumped. I just started working again a couple weeks ago so I am going to start saving away some "Tinley Park Fund" money lol.

I am definately looking for a Pied or Albino. Hopefully I can find some good prices. I am also looking for an Iguana but I will prolly get that before Tinley.

Really? I think the Wheaton show is rather good for BI MONTHLY show. There is a great selection, frozen rodents galore, and everything kind of supply you need.

Yeah I mean it was decent but I was pretty dissapointed. Maybe I just went at a bad time? IDK. I got there around 2 PM on Sunday. Me and my GF walked around every table and looked at everything really good and we were done in less than 40 minutes. It took me 1 hour and 30-45 minutes to drive there so that may be why I was so dissapointed.

It didn't seam like there was much there to look at. And a couple tables were completely random and had nothing to do with animals lol. I did enjoy looking at the Dart Frog table in the middle area and a couple of the tables with a lot of BP's, but everything else was mostly a let down.

1 table completely shocked me.... It was so dirty and some of the glass containers the ball pythons were in were like dusty and dirty looking.... definately made me feel like this guy didn't take care of his stuff. And at the very back wall there was a table with a ton of bunnys and chickens and roosters.... this guy had like 4 roosters packed into 1 tiny cage. Seamed so cruel if you ask me.

    Re: Tinley Park

I agree, there are a couple questionable tables but the majority of tables are nices. The selection is a bit weak.

I drive there every other month for rats. Takes me about an hour to get there and I only stay for 30 minutes to an hour. It is worth it for the rats though.
