So technically, I could house a male BCI in my 41 qt rack with my ball python? I've got room, and every time I go to a show these guys are so friendly but I haven't taken the time to research because I didn't think a tub would be sufficient...Would the 41 qt. work for the males entire life or would I be forced to move to a larger setup?

Im not sure about the size and tubs since I never owned one. But you have to be concerned about IBD. Try to get a Boa from a keeper that also keeps pythons to be sure. Although I would guess any reputable Boa breeder is IBD free

Inclusion Body Disease, Though rare is very fatal when expressed in boas or pythons.

Re: just curious for now but.....

It's a terminal disease for some snake species. It will kill most pythons in just a few months and Boas in the long run. Boa also seem to be carriers of IBD.

    Argh!

Just read this http://www.anapsid.org/ibd.html. I'm not good at explaining some things...

So...does that mean don't house boas and balls together, or just be careful who I buy from? I would likely get one at the next major show, most likely the June Tampa Repticon...

Again, only if you all think a 41 qt tub would suffice as a long term home...

NEVER house snakes together period. Even if its the same species, problems arise eventually and not worth it.

When ever getting a new snake whether its a boa or a ball, always qt them apart to be sure they are healthy enough to co-inhabit in the same room

Just becareful who you buy from.

A 41qt tub should last a male BCI a long while. I guess it all deppends on how big he grows. You never really know.
