what do you house your RTB in? i've seen some pics with tubs,is that for subadults only? i now the temps are very similar to bp's but how about humidity? for those of you who keep bp's, do you keep your RTB in the same room? or as a display in the livingroom? which i think would look very nice. any other advice or tips are appreciated. thank you

I have my BCI and BCO in tubs right now. They're only in the 150-200 gram range though so they are small now, but i will be putting them in 4x2's soon. I keep all my herps in the same room. My ball python, my jcp, and the boas. Humidity is about the same range as bp's, just a little higher. My other advice would be, get a RTB. They are awsome. Dont get too large and have great temperments. And they are beautiful.

hey thanks. i'm sorry i know you said 4x2 but what kind of enclosure, DIY or pre-made? how about IBD, are you worried? i hope to really follow your advice and get one, fathers day is not too far...LOL

I keep my boas the same as the bps.

78=80 cool side
88-92 warm side
55-65% humidity.

Mine are currently in 41 qts at 1000grams and some males never out grown 41qt tubs and some do.

lol we just got a baby rtb and he does not like people yet Went to change water soon as i stuck hand in he tried to tag me

Im sure he will get used to it after all he's only like 3 weeks old lol and iv had him around 1 week tomorrow

the 2 times i've been tagged were by a BCI that i had about 15 years ago. i used to keep her in a 55 gallon tank with heat lamp and UTH but no t-stat. how much things change and we learn every day. so a male should be fine in a 41qt. how big do males get in grams? thank you all

my biggest male i had was 5.5 ft and 12 lbs. Some can get as big as females some smaller. 41qt will house a 6ft snake no problems, just the weight sometimes cause problems in racks.

Boa's are divided into 2 sub species:

BCC = Boa Constrictor Constrictor (Also known as true red tails). This is the bigger species. Surinames, Iquitos, North Brazilian to name a few.

BCI = Boa Constrictor Imperator. These are the smaller species. Also most Boa morphs fall into this category. I think most Colombian and Central American Boas are BCI.
