    Mice Breeding Update

Just an update on how my mice breeding is going. This is a 1.6 group. I took them out to clean their cage and this is all 7 adults with the offspring. So many babies. I can't wait till they are big enough to freeze for my corns. This should save me some money since each adult mouse I buy from the store is around $2.

Aw! The size of the bigger babys in there is when I feel bad and keep back the ones (I play with) as breeders

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

There are a lot of females in there so I will be making another mouse enclosure and set up another 1.6 group.

congrats. I just checked on my mice. around 15 babies or so. Cant wait for them to grow a bit my pied ball and pin are gonna love them. (only breed the mice for the baby snakes and to stack up on feeders for the hatchlings) i wish i could get some colored mice around here but can only get my hands on the albinos. Rats ive been able to get an all black male and a blue and white male. Looking for females to breed them to. Also i noticed u use paper towels. How do u deal with the smell? I use an old snake bag with coffee in it to keep the smell away. Before i used the coffee the smell was so bad i couldnt stand it. Almost gave up on breeding the mice but the coffee really does take the smell away. Dont have to clean it as much as i use to as well.

Really? Man, it's hard get anything BUT colored mice around here. It's hard to find a pure white mouse honestly. It seams like all of the places around here get their mice from the same breeder, because no one has pure white "albino" mice.

Check places like Petco and Petsmart for colored mice. I don't keep them on paper towels. That was my weighing tub. I put rats and mice in there while I clean their tubs out.

    Re: Mice Breeding Update

Thanks. You could try putting an ad on CL asking if anyone has any colored mice. Hmm. Too bad you don't live in my area. There are TONS of really cool looking colored mice in feeder bins around the area. I found those blue satin mice in a feeder bin.

Yeah it kinda sucks up here for the mice\rats. Most only sell the albinos. I drove 14 hours round trip to pick up a 1300 gram mojave bp so i may have to take a trip to pick up some colored ones when i get a chance. I guess for now the albinos will have to do.
