Wall Mounted Micathermic Flat Panel Heater

    http://www.imarketcity.com/sohg15wawamo.html

Anyone use one of these yet. Im going to try it out to see if it helps with humidity in winter. Since the Oil radiator heater kills the humidity and takes up floor space.

The on on the link being Wall Mounted and IR technology heating the air and surfaces, should help moisture levels.

An oil radiator shouldn't affect the humidity any more than the mica panel. It's forced-air heating that really kills humidity. The main problem is that the outside air is far drier most of the winter, since cold air holds less moisture.

also looking at these as i have a neise that comes around and want the heater out of her reach if she were to wander into the room.

Do the backs of these get hot to cause problems mounting on wall. They say thier 80% radiant heat compared to oil radiators being 0% radiant heat

No, you can mount them on the wall safely. You can even get some painted to look like pictures, lol.

Heat is heat. Warm air holds more humidity than cool air. Heat also makes water evaporate faster. Air circulation can carry moisture away. If the room is fairly sealed, the moisture will stay in the room.

The radiant heat panels are nice because they don't get hot to the touch--very safe.

Soon as I can, Id like to switch over t baseboard heat.

    More BTU output per watt

Their nice but i want all heat to be off the floor away from neise or any baby that visits.

I found the Mica heater on newegg for 39 and 49 shipped but thermostat isnt digital, yet a manual dial. I found digital ones but they dont mount on the wall

I know for a fact my oil filled heaters put off radiant heat as well as heating air directly.

The only downfall I see to this heater is that its digital, meaning you couldnt hook it up to an external thermostat such as a Ranco. The thermostats in these things are notoriously unreliable and temps can vary by quite a bit in a room. Once your Ranco cut the power to this thing and then turned it back on, its be rest and youd be hosed.

Also, be prepared to put this thing on it's own circuit or not to run much else on that same circuit.

1500w=12.5amps on a 120v circuit, which most homes circuits are on a 15 amp breaker.

I'd do some looking into reviews on it, its getting mixed reviews. Just a thought.

Most if not all oil radiators are 12.5. The one i have runs 12.5amps at 500,750,1500 watts. And i have a computer in there that also runs about 800 watt draw when its on. But then i have the heater set to never go pass the 750w setting.

One i currently use for the snakes. But just want to get something to do same job but hang on wall.

Re: Wall Mounted Micathermic Flat Panel Heater

Yeah your right about most if not all oils filled heaters drawing 12.5amps.

But they dont draw that ALL THE TIME. They are all CAPABLE of drawing that much at full power. Thats because small space heaters are limited to 1500w.

Mines set on low at 600w so its only pulling 5A.

All in all I dont think this heater will solve your humidity issues, but will keep the kids from touching it for sure since it would be higher up off the floor.

I also think that since it heats up faster than oil filled, it'll no doubt get your room up to temp faster, but will also cycle off and on much more than an oil filled would that once is turned off, is still putting off good heat for a while.

So I think your electric bill would go up as well.

    Thats just my 2 pennies.

Thats one of the reasons i want a Mica wall heater thats digital to control heat beter than the manual dial ones. But digital ones arent wall mountable, unless i havent came across it yet.
