Re: Morphs on a Budget
I would check out a Pin or a Mojave...you could easily get one of those for under $500 and the Lemon Blasts and Pastel Mojaves are both awesome looking.

Re: Morphs on a Budget
Depends on how long you want to wait and make babies. If you want them next season then your in need of an 08 or older female for the following season I would say a nice sized 09 should work. But the bigger the better. I mean hell you can just pick up a 2000+ gram female Normal for under 50 bucks and breed her to your pastel and get 50/50. But if you want morphs then your in need of a pastel, spider, pin or mojave.

Re: Morphs on a Budget
Another awesome bee...maybe I know what direction I should go in!
I consider my Pastel to have great color, but he is not a "jungle" or "lemon" pastel...will he still be able to produce good looking bees like the amazing one you both have?

Re: Morphs on a Budget
while its true that selective breeding helps to give you nice offspring, even an "ugly duckling" looking pastel can pump out some great looking offspring as well.
good luck on what you chose and just remember, if you like what your trying to produce then it will keep you interested right through till the end. so many people start these projects and then get bored half way through loosing the passion making them feel overwhelmed.
