Re: breeding a female with more than one male

Wow, that's an awesome clutch David!! I'm currently doing a game of "who's the daddy," since I only have 2 breeding-sized females right now, and at least 3 boys who are ready. So far I've only witnessed locks with the pastel, but hoping the spider and/or mojave got the job done too... it will be fun to see what you and I end up with!
    Lolo's Collection...
Ball Pythons: 0.4 Normals, 1.0 Pastel, 1.1 Mojaves, 1.0 Black Pastel, 2.0 Spiders, 0.1 Lesser, 1.0 Orange Ghost, 0.1 Honeybee
0.1 Spotted Python, 1.1 Stimson's Pythons, 1.0 Jungle Carpet Python
3.4 Corn Snakes, 1.1 Western Hognose Snakes, 1.2 cats, and 1.0 dog (47lb mutt)

My question is.. when you go to sell the normals do you call them 'possible het. Pieds' or what?

I think that could get a bit messy when you throw recessives in.. with keeping track of the babies and going to sell them.

Waiit, I just realized the mother was Pied and not Het. Pied, so that would make all the normals Het. Pied anyway no matter who the father was.
    Nevermind on that.

Yes your correct if the female is recessive all offspring will be 100% het for that gene.

But when the male is the recessive and you toss in dominants the normal babies are pos hets as well you dont know who fathered the normals and so on.

AHHHHHHHH! brain explode! i never thought about that...

so either way, if i do get a spider and a pastel, we'll know that there were 2 separate fathers. ALL babies, spider, pastel, and normal, will be het albino, 100%. will the normals be 50% het spider & pastel as well?

oh MYLANTA! practically as soon as i posted that, i was like DUUUUUUH! those are co's and doms!

not to mention, it would be impossible for the babies to take on the genes of mom, and BOTH dads, hahaha. it's late for me...past my brain's bedtime...

Re: breeding a female with more than one male

is it at all detrimental to the females health to be bred with more than one male? if not, why isn't it done more often?

and if it IS done often, i guess i just haven't heard much about it

well, merangue has had 5-6 hookups so far (can't remember and don't feel like getting my book).

and i'm not sure if she's actually developing eggs or not! she feels quite hard these days though. not squishy AT ALL and everytime i try to get her to drape down and relax she REFUSES. i can't feel anything through her belly either because she seems so tense and hard. i wonder if this is a sign that she may have some buns in the oven?
