    Re: Red Bulb Question

This is from the BP Caresheet -Red or blue "night" bulbs are best- I also saw in our local hardware where I bought my red light... They also have a blue light...

If you are wanting the red bulb on so your snake gets light, you're fighting a lost cause. Snakes can't see red bulbs.....

I don't really see a reason to shut the light off other than for humidity issues, but you're going to have them regardless because you use a light. I would personally leave the light on.

In my opinion there is no difference between blue or red bulbs. Both are considered night time bulbs because snakes/most reptiles don't have the color spectrum we do, and thus, are unaffected by those bulbs.

another question.... which is better, blue light or red? which is better for the snake?

    you found blue halogens? Where?

I just took some blue lighting gels to change the color at night. lol.

As for what's better, red night transmits really close to the same wave length as blue - not that far. I don't think visually for the snake it would make a difference.

I don't have red/green spectrum but I can tell there's light going through my red bulb
