How is it wired, clips or solder.
It came pre-wired w/ clips from reptile basics, and is a brand new 3" strip... I did cut it to fit the small tub, so could that have affected it? Or maybe the tub is just closer to the tape at that spot?

P.S. I looked at pictures of other hoggies, and some of them do have an orange bit near the tail... but hers is definitely bigger than usual!

as long as you didnt cut through e black your fine. And the tub being closer at one spot is very possible but only you can answer that. Clips are fine and dandy but they do come loose or have not so good connection.
I always recommend soldering as when done good it lasts and you get even heating

Re: Meet Charlotte!
Thanks for the info! I just fed her a pinkie mouse, and she was happy to take it... but she wouldn't take it from the tongs, just when it fell to the ground. I may have to reconsider a feeding tub, since I don't want her ingesting the substrate (tonight I cleared a spot when she started moving it around). She did start looking for a second mouse the second she finished, so next week I'll definitely give her two mice. Here are a few shots from the feeding:
She tried to eat it sideways at first, LOL.

Awesome Hog you got...
That orange is pretty normal in size... It is the split vent scale... All westerns have it...
Here is the vent of one of my reds...

Re: Meet Charlotte!
Thanks for the info! I'm loving her so far, and it's hard to leave her alone (for the week of getting settled). She's always out when I'm in the room, pressing her cute little snout up against the tub.

Re: Meet Charlotte!
P.S. Can you recommend a good website for Hognose info - particularly anything about their morphs and genetics? I've done a bit of searching, but nothing really useful is coming up for me.
