Part of it depends on how much your female weighs to start with, how old she is, if she is finished growing, etc. The eggs themselves only weigh maybe 1-2 grams each when they are laid so you will have a few extra grams of egg weight in the week or so before your female lays (and you can measure actual weight loss after the eggs are laid). I've never used weight gain as a way to track whether or not my females are gravid or when they are going to lay, but as mentioned you can gently palpate for eggs. You will be able to feel the eggs once they have formed the hard shell around them--I don't recall off the top of my head exctly how many weeks in this is, but you can feel the eggs at least a week prior to them being laid.
