This girl finally used the Madrona branch i cut for her in Nov. I was suprised to see her tonight in hunting mode using her new perch, so i thought i would take a few pics.

    Re: Sweet!

Hey, Judd, how'd you mount that in there? I've wanted to do something similar for the balls and was trying to figure out the best way to do it. I was thinking hole, washer, washer, wingnut. With a screw in the end of the perch. Whatcha think?

I love their big fat jaw muscles btw. Whenever I see those I just want to go up and squeeze his jaw muscles and make him open his mouth. Like one of those paper fortune tellers...

Don't believe everything you hear. Unless you've owned one and have seen first-hand, it's best not to believe blindly. Many do climb. Very much in fact, when given the chance. No offense - that wasn't meant to sound arrogant, but I think it did.

I do own one. And have seen many others then mines, I dont recall any really climbing. Maybe to get out and explore but not hanging from branches like a GTP.

Its not believing blindly just have never seen balls hang from trees seeing as they prefer hides

Hope that dont sound arrogant. Just stating what iv heard/seen

    Re: Sweet!

Well they don't hang from the trees the way GTPs do. And granted, some are just not big on climbing. But I have known 3 (other than my own) that loved to climb. And Adalae will climb anything and everything. She'd climb a ladder to the ceiling if she could. The first thing she does when presented with something new is to see how high she can get. She doesn't hide IN her hides, she hides ON them. She's a weird one.

    Re: Sweet!

Believe it or not I've seen a pic of a BP hanging from a large branch in typical GTP fashion!

They will climb when given the opportunity, but they're not as graceful at it and have a tendancy to fall on occasion, so I like to limit climbing to safe heights.

    Re: Sweet!

In my experience, Balls are excellent climberts and love to hang out above ground if given the chance. My local zoo has a group of three adults that I have never seen on the ground. They are always around 3' above in the trees....and this is going on 15+ years. They have always behaved in an arboreal manner.
