Im new here to this site ive been around boas and balls coming up but never owned one i finally purchased my first ball. So far he/she is doing well where i got my ball from they was feeding it frozen: so i need to know how to get it on live thank you for your time.

If you have them on F/T...I'd keep him on that...If you get him on live, it might not go back to F/T...Just my opinion...I'd have all mine on F/T but the BP's are the most stubborn and need to be on live...Dang them!!!

My question is why on earth would you want to take a snake that is already eating well on frozen/thawed rodents and put it back on live? Thats a little backwards.

The rest of us try and strive and fight and struggle to GET all of our snakes to eat the F/T rodents but many wont. Its so much easier on you, your wallet and your snake if it eats F/T.

If you really want it to eat live then by all means give it live. The problem is. At some point your snake will end up a bite from the rodent. Most snakes that eat live prey end up getting bitten.

Never leave a live rodent in with the snake if you are not watching it. A rat will bite and chew on a snake until it kills it.

And just FYI. I have a few snakes that refuse to eat F/T and every time I feed them I have to hover over them to be sure they grab the rat the right way. More often than not I have to reach in and grab the rats jaws to stop it from biting the snake while its being coiled. Thats not fun at all. Plus my pastel was bitten on the eye by his last rat. It was a pretty bad bite and his eye may never be the same..

Just some food for thought. Dont think im getting on you or anything. Im just trying to explain to you why you should be happy, no wait, ecstatic that your snake already eats F/T rodents.

Most of us can only wish all of ours did.

Most pet stores now sell frozen rodents in different sizes. For only one snake this would not be very expensive weekly. You can also do a search or just post a question asking who everyone orders their rodents from. You can order frozen rodents of the right size and just keep them in the freezer. You just dont want to order more than a couple months or so supply at a time. They are frozen but you want to consider freezer burn from storing in the freezer for a very long time. I know people will keep a supply longer than that but freezer burn makes the rats smell different and the snake may not take it.

Really it is easier. Look into it. All you do is let it thaw to room temp for half a day or so, maybe warm it in a baggie in some hot tap water or run a blow dryer on it if needed (not every snake needs it warmed though) and just offer it to your snake. If its already on F/T it should be very to feed your snake. If you do give it live you may not be able to get it back on F/T later if you wanted to switch it again. BPs can be picky that way.
