Re: Question About Water & Feeding
Do you ever clean the bowl?
I clean mine in the dishwasher once a week and they all stay spotless.
What kind of bedding are you using?

Oh yes - every day. I am thinking its just the oil from their skin/scales. I use coco soft for substrate. Thats almost never in the water, but I don;t know if it has properties that make it prone to clouding.

Re: Question About Water & Feeding
I only realy clean the water (because I think I might as well just do it) when I switch out the newspaper, usualy after they go to the bathroom or if their prey (I feed live) messes up their newspaper. This usualy comes to about once a week. But the water is always clean no matter what. So I realy dont think it is the snakes fault in any way. It must be something insde the snakes enclosure.

Re: Question About Water & Feeding
What kind of water do you use? Tap water? Then does your water come from a well or ?????? Some water has tons of minerals in it and can make water clouded at times. this could be the cause. What are you using for a water dish? This could also be the problem. Plastics can hold small micros of cleaners/soaps. Not that yours is or it could be that the combo of the "hard water" and your dish just doesn't work out.
Then like it has been stated before what is in your tank? do some tests i would with your bedding and other things in the water and that dish and other poss dishes you might use.
I don't have this problem but I know we all have diffrent water in where we live. Not that this could not happen to me.. It should not be to hard to figure it out with a process of elimination.
Good luck

Thanks man! I agree.
I just use tap water, but she have a very large heavy glass bowl. When I observer her, every single time I change the water, she likes to slither over the top of the bowl, and 'dip' part of her neck in it, then she drinks. By the end of the day, its a little cloudy. My water comes from the municpal water supply - who knows what's in it.
Roddie is in excellent health, so I guess I'll just continue to moniter and tweak as needed.
Thanks Everyone!
