Sex and Pricing

I'm curious as to why females are more expensive than males? Is this price difference artificial, or is there actually a reason for females to be more expensive? Doesn't it make more sense for it to be the other way around, since a male morph could breed to several females, but a female can only breed to one male (double sired clutches excluded).

Thanks for any insight anyone can give me, so far I'm at a loss to explain it.

That's exactly it. You only need one male to sire several clutches. You still need an individual female for every clutch though. That means most people are going to keep the females they produce, and sell the males, which leads to an abundance of males on the market.
