    Breed Pastel or Mojave?

I am getting ready for my first breeding season. Nothing spectacular but wanted to know which route others would go.

I have a 1700g normal female, I dont know wether to try her with my Pastel or my Mojave. The other normal female has been a very stubborn eater and may not go this year, I dont see her putting on 4-500g in the near future safely.

Should I go for possible Pastels or Mojaves? Both are very nice and wish one stood out from the other.

I'd vote to pair her up with both if you can't choose one

And just see what she comes up with? That's quite an idea.

Does it ever matter what she hooks up with first? Or does that not really matter all the time?

Sorry for no pictures. This was a spur of the moment poll.

    Re: Breed Pastel or Mojave?

I like the breed with both idea.

Another option is to think about future breeding possibilities. Personally, the possibility of eventually being able to breed mojave x mojave would be more exciting to me than doing pastel x pastel.

But if it is a tough call for you, breed both! Imagine the excitement! And there's always the (very slim) possibility you will get a double sired clutch.

Keep us posted with your decision!

EDIT: No, it shouldn't matter which snake she pairs with first

    Re: Breed Pastel or Mojave?

well I have a Lesser female that Im cant wait to hook up with the Mojo next year. But this one is more of a learning curve for me.

The pastel is slightly larger than the MoJo but they are both fantastic eaters so who knows.

I have seen the double sired clutch even though time after time I am told it WONT happen. How do you tell someone politely to shove it when you have seen it with your own eyes?

Yeah, I mean, the odds against have got to be absolutely rediculous, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen!

    Re: Breed Pastel or Mojave?

I was about to suggest trying them both after reading the original post, but it seems like a bunch of people already beat me to it.

    Keep us updated!

Alrighty then. Still trying to figure out why you're on both sides of the fence.

But then again the ignorant ones will always shine above the rest. Congrats!

    Re: Breed Pastel or Mojave?

I would agree with trying both. However with that combination no matter what you do, it opens up many possibilities. if you go with the Pastel, you can not only get super pastels but pastaves as well. Go with the mojave and you can be producing pastaves and BELS. of course this is all down the road depending on what you choose to do now.

Nonetheless it's a winning situation all around.

I think I would prefer to go for Mojaves right now but if I pair her up with both I will surely enjoy whatever I get.
