    Why did you not check the sexes of your animals before placing them together?
    It sounds like he was sorting snakes and put a couple together while doing so. I don't think they were housed together full time. It might not be a bad idea to sex them again though.

    I've heard stories of male locking with each other as a show of dominance. Never seen it but then again I don't put males together during breeding..

    Thats exactly what we have heard. About 3 years ago we had a ball python we bought as a female and never resexed it, when we put the male in they locked up, about a year later I was sorta wondering why "she" hadn't produced. We popped "her" and it turned out to be a Boy! So that whole year two Boys were locking up!
