    Re: Is this normal?

You should put some more stuff in that tank, a water bowl, more plants, smaller hides, make him feel secure
    1 RED TAIL BOA
    1 BALL PYTHON
    1 BRAZILIAN RAINBOW BOA
    1 CORN SNAKE

its dark in your room.. is it suppose to be night time? if it is then why do you have a day light on him at night? my snake is always up n about during the night.. if he isnt i get worried lol like when i had a lil mite issue and he got bloated he wasnt active at all so i knew he wasnt happy took the mites away next day he was good oll izzy again. but yeah at night time you def going to have an active snake.. during the day you probs will never see him/her

i just made my snake a hide outa a gallon milk jug... was to big so he just cruised on out into his smaller one... guess hes the picky type and wants me to buy the spendy hide next hes gonna want some bling

def get a digi thermometer with a probe alot better then what u using now. they sell weather ones at lowes for 21 measures humidity and temp on the probe and also says the temp around the box so u no ur room temp to lol

That's a good point. Switch to a red or blue bulb.

IMO, i think you can bump up the temps a little, hot side 88*-92* and cool side 78*-82*.

    Re: Is this normal?

I personally wouldn't recommend live ones. It makes the tank a bit harder to keep clean.

You could get great fake ones at Big Lots. I got mine there and love them. They also have some at Wal-Mart. I personally like the Big Lots one better.

Here's a picture of what mine look like.
