I heard that double spider morphs like bumble bees, honey bees, spinners etc, have a less like change of wobbling/spinning. Any truth to this? I don't see why it would make a difference tho.

Not that I've seen. I've seen bees that wobble worse than some spiders..its just from animal to animal.

Thanks for the reply. I've been thinking about getting a spider as my first ball python, but I'm really not sure after reading this.

Yea, I know what you mean! I was not aware of the wobble/spin issue when I first discovered the spider morph.

If you are curious, you can look up some bad cases on youtube.com! I have steered clear of the spider morph after I got an earfull from a local breeder about them. I haven't owned one, or even seen the wobble in person, but I think I would worry constantly over my snake even knowing that this is normal! You can look into a pinstripe though! They are just barely more expensive in most cases and very pretty!

Wow, those videos are almost hard to watch. I definitely don't want one now. I couldn't picture it in my head before I saw the videos. I'm sure it is barely noticible on most, but you would never know right?

You guys are making a big deal out of the spider... why? they move weird sometimes so what? guess what all your morphs look weird. Its different yes, so are all your morphs. It doesn't prevent it from eating or anything deal with living a healthy life in captivity. whats the fuss about? what are you worrying about? Since the spider morph came out 10 years ago, there hasn't been one (atleast public) case of a spider not being able to live a healthy life due to the "wobble"

Honestly, I was sooo not aware of this issue at first, and yeah, it IS rather alarming if you don't know about it.

I am not saying to not get a spider, or that there is anything wrong with them. As for being different, "just like all morphs", you can't really compare the two. The spider wobble is way different then a color or pattern morph.

The person who posted this thread was unaware of this issue. What if they got their spider home and started to freak out because it was acting weird? Honestly, I would feed duped if I hadn't known ahead of time. Just sayin'

Yea - and like I said, those seem to be extreme cases. Some ppl say that their spider only wobbled as a neonate, others the opposite... But it can change from good to worse, or bad to better. And I have no idea how it effects breeding. For instance, does a low wobble spider produce low wobble offspring? Or does it matter?

nope, my spider I have NEVER seen wobble once, but I know her offspring will most likely have it. people have been trying to breed the wobble out for quite some time and so far no luck. Just like low white spiders can make high white spiders, no wobble spiders can make high wobble spiders.

and btw I do know what a wobble looks like (people like to question it), I own a jag carpet, they have the same issue and my jag does show it. Spider, not once.
