got any pics of your hogg island boa setup ?

I'd like to see some pictures of your Hogg Island Boa setup.

I just moved my boa into a display tank from a tub setup, but now she doesn't use her hide anymore. The dilemma I'm faced with now is that I've got the heatpad under the hide, so I'm not sure if I should just remove the hide and put in another heat source.

if anyone's got some pictures of their setup I'd like to see it, to give me some ideas on how I should adjust my setup.

well, it seems nobody wants to post pics.

well, answer me this then, are you guys using belly heat or back heat for your enclosure?

most threads I've read about BP's everyone seems to prefer belly heat , which is what I was using. but as I stated in the first post, my boa doesn't want to use her hide anymore since I've moved her into the bigger display tank so I've been thinking of using a ceramic heat emitter for the enclosure instead.

I can get you some pics asap but i wouldnt do that im sure you seen my video but mine used to never use her hide... Then when i caught her on the hot side i would take her hide and place it over her and she got used it it.

Wait so are you using a tub or a tank... If you are using a tub i highly recommend it because it keeps heat and humidity in awesome... I had a 40 gallon breeder tank that i used to use and man was it a pain to constantly check temps all the time and check humidity ( especially she went into shed then i had to check it like everyday). With a tub i think i may check the heat once a week if that just to make sure the ranco is working right plus my basement is really cold. Any other question shoot me a PM... Im going through a RI problem right now so vet bills are getting pricey but i can help you out anytime man let me know.

these are the latest ones I took

this was when I just moved her into the new tank and she was still using the hide

and a couple of pics from july /august

you'll have to forgive me for the pics , I'm not much of a photographer.

I like her , but I wish she had more of a contrast in colours like yours. I had her in a tub but I just love the iridescence when the light hits her so I wanted her in a display tank so I could look at her all the time.

I removed the hide and she curls up on the warm side now, so I don't think I'll need to put in another heat source. I've got the UTH right where the hide was so I think it should be ok now. as far as humidity goes , the tank seems to hold it in pretty well even though its quite large. its pretty stable at around 60% humidity. when she goes into shed I'll probably add some damp sphagnum moss to raise it a bit.

Your cage looks good to me. I just switched my adult boa cages from belly heat to radiant heat panels, which are mounted to the tops of the cages, and am much more happy with them. They not only increase the hot spot temp, they increase the ambient them in the entire enclosure. I imagine that a CHE will do the same thing.

Your cage setup is really nice i just offerd the tub suggestion if you have problems with the humidity. I understand totally how you feel when you like to see your boa slither around in the tank i used to love that unfortuently i ran out of room for tanks and do not have my own snake room. But other then that your HOG looks really good nice work
