i have 1 ball python and 1 red tail boa i just checked my ball today and she really did not have any on her i gave her tank a good cleaning and soaked her for a little while my boa on the hand had a few more and in her hide cave there was a couple of what looked like eggs so i cleaned every thing and soaked her for a while and found some mites floating i really have no idea where they came from i had both of them for a almost 2 years and never had a problem

These mites had to come from somewhere. I'm pretty sure these are species specific, so they had to come in from another snake. If you've had both of your snakes for some time, with no cross contamination from another snake, I don't see how they can be mites. Did you get a new wooden hide lately? I'm thinking maybe they were brought in with a piece of wood. If that's the case they aren't mites that will attach themselves to your snakes.

    Good Luck!

also a very good possibility. I had a slight mite problem for about a day or so before i POM'd all the tanks and gave every1 a nice soak. Needless to say there are no more mites and the snake that came in with mites is now in shed so he will be back to normal with no bite marks in no time. He just started shedding tonite. My pm still stands.
