Re: what kind of cleaner ?

Antibacterial soap and water to scrub the enclosures, then a 10% bleach and DISTILLED WATER solution. Let dry on it's own. I never use towels or clothes from the household. In between cleanings I use a 25% vinegar and DISTILLED WATER solution for cleanups. Again, I let it dry on it's own.

I use distilled water because of the chemicals that are added to our tap water. Different areas will differ, but I get my water from the city and they add so many chemicals and even add deodorants to the water.

yeah the way it's looking i have to use the bleach soloution ...

is there a reason why you let it air dry ?

i was thinking using the bleace mix then rinsing again with water then letting it air dry to make sure all the bleach is off

I'm concerned about the detergents and fragerance additives used to wash towels in your washing machine. I also believe that bleach will work a little longer if left to gry on its own.

I don't have any scientific reason, it's just what I do.

It depends on what kind of substrate your using. If you use paper like I do in some of my tubs then you have to clean them fairly often when they pee or poo. But if your using aspen it gets spot cleaned and then once a month they get totally cleaned out and new bedding. If I see a mess and if its a really big mess might have to change the tub out sooner. Just depends.

Once a month, unless they have some funky poo. If everything goes as intended, once a month with vinegar cleaning after every poo.

Many vet clinics use Chlorhex (aka Nolvesan)...you may be able to ask your vet if you could buy a bottle from them!
