My 2 year old niece is having nightmares...

About my ball python. Her nightmare consists of my snake slithering up her nose and coming out of her ear. She even made me pretend to get him out of her crib and throw him in the garbage. I think the whole situation is really weird because she always loved holding him and was sad when I had to put him away.

Both of my children have night terrors. My 5 year old has somewhat grown out of it now but it was horrible when he was around 2-3 years old. He would wake us up screaming in the middle of the night. And now our two year old has just started with them the past 6 months. We are hoping he grows out of it to.

did she happen to see that book Ripley's Believe It Or Not....I ask because there is a picture in there of just that. It really is quite a disturbing picture...even for me.

I might show here that there is no way the python can fit up her nose. I also might put a lock on your enclosure. This is two fold actually! First to make her feel more comfortable that it is locked and secondly to ensure that she doesn't try to get rid of the snake when you are not looking.

Nope I don't own that book, and my snakes cage already has a lock and his high up where she can't reach it. It just doesn't make sense to me because she loves my snake, and thats the only snake shes ever seen, besides the one called "nofeet" on little bear haha.

Thats crazy.....maybe a movie or something on tv. That is just so random!! Maybe check out some good kid books on snakes to read to her.

Maybe did someone freak her out??? Like another kid??? Grasping here...it is just so strange that she all of a sudden thought of that. You would be amazed at what other kids say and think. I hear some pretty interesting ideas and thoughts from my sons friends. Kids brains seriously work in very mysterious ways...lol

Re: My 2 year old niece is having nightmares...

Even though I love snakes and have had them since I was 10 I, even now, will have nightmares about them. I get just as scared of them in dreams as you would some crazy murderer. But by the time I wake up I can obviously just brush it off since I know they aren't the vicious things they seem to be in my nightmares.
I'd say just give her time. A lot of times nightmares can be triggered by stress and if she's had anything changing in her life, even the smallest thing, anything at all that can cause stress, that could be the cause. And it's likely that it has nothing at all to do with the snake. Just one of those strange subconscious things.
My main stress nightmares are always about tornadoes, totally random.

i dont know about nightmares, but in the last few years Zertec changed their warning labels to include a few things about sleeping and taking that drug. :/

she COULD have just had an average, run of the mill nightmare, i wouldn't look too much into it. the brain does some crazy stuff when we're asleep.

hmm, speaking of nightmares, does anyone ever have nightmares about their snake dieing, or getting hurt, or you losing it or anything?

SWIM had nightmares about his animals getting hurt or lost every day for at least a week after buying a new pet. I still get nightmares about my pets, iam i crazy or what?
