Re: Pet santa at the mall

That's awesome! I drove by our local shelter the other day and they were advertising pet pictures with Santa. I told my BF that if we had a giant python, I would totally do it! (Of course with taking all precautions before doing it)

This may have been "planned" with the mall, but BG bets all the people showing up were not "planning" on seeing a huge snake.

Unfortunately some people are scared to death of them, you can bet it was the topic of discussion at every dinner table, of every person that went. All it takes is it to be discussed at the wrong table. The table of someone who thinks "they're outta be a law".....and the power to make one.

We do need to "educate " people, but we need to do it when people know what they're getting themselves into. Just showing up with a huge snake is asking for trouble. BG knows you know what he's saying.

Neil the reason why we're getting crapped all over right now is a complete and utter lack of exposure. I think a positive experience like this HELPS us.

Dogs aren't being banned because everyone freaking has one, even though they've killed more Americans than pythons ever will.

    Great Pic Shawn.

Maybe, maybe not, but in BG's experience, something like this can only lead to something bad. BG almost learned it the hard way. He had a big boa on his lawn and some kids came over and were checking it out years ago. They all loved it, including the moms of the kids...... but the woman across the street was scared to death. She went to the next township meeting and tried to do something....just like BG said.

Problem was, one of the biggest lucky coincidences ever. The Mayor had large Burms in his house. BG knew his son Drew who owned the Burms, but he didn't know his dad was the mayor. His son told me what happened a few days later. The woman's husband showed me the pics she took of the snake years later. They didn't know that BG knew what the wife tried to do.

You guys can say all you want about it......in this day and age it's a bad idea to bring a big snake out in public....PERIOD!!!!! Unless of course it's some sort of scheduled thing..... Like a birthday party, or some educational show at a school. BG can't come down on Shawn too bad, he did the same thing years ago, but that was "years ago". He's much smarter now.....if that's possible.

Well we need to change that, so that you old farts can start saying "In my day people would crap themselves over 3" corn snakes! Now they don't even flench when they see a 24" Retic! Speaking of retics I had to walk 14 miles in the snow with no shoes to get my 1st retic!"

Big Gunns walked on his hands up Mount Kilimanjaro to get his first snake.

Listen fans. Big Gunns totally agrees with yah, we need more positive exposure, but let BG ask you all this.

If 50 people in different states around the country took their big snake to the mall(BG has joke here, but not for bp.net) to meet Santa, what do you think would happen? Big Gunns will bet that their would be 40 something "positive" experiences, and at least a couple new laws trying to be passed. If you really think about it, you know BG is right(like always). Always better to be safe than sorry with our beloved snakes.

BG has learned that when it comes to his snakes, he never lets anyone know squat. Even if BG's neighbors knew he had snakes, he would never EVER let them see them. Knowing BG has them, and actually seeing a "car and woman eating snake" are two different things.
