Sorry, another noob here--the thermostat should be on the outside? I thought it should be placed inside, on the floor above the UTH like the thermometer probe. Wouldn't it be working with the wrong temp if on the outside? Thanks, I just want to be sure I'm doing this correctly.

No. if it is in the inside the snake can move the probe or pee on it causing the thermostat to get a false reading and just crank the temp up.

Put it on the outside and adjust it in order to get a temp of 90-92* on the inside of the tank. You might have to put the thermostat higher than 92* to get the right temperature.
