When to feed an ADULT bearded dragon?
Me and my freind CoolioTiffany are in a little "debate" at the moment LOL
we have both been told by different people, when to feed an ADULT beardy(we are talking about bugs, not salad. salad should be fed every single day).
she has been told that adults over 18 months need to be fed as many bugs as they can eat in one sitting a day, every other day, dusted with calcium powder.also, that superworms can be fed as a 100% staple diet for protein. based on what he told her, this is the feeding schedule she came up with:
-Feed protein every other day
-Dust superworms with calcium powder
-Offer as many superworms the Beardie can eat in one sitting
-Only feed the Beardie the protein once in the day, every other day
-Dust superworms with Herptivite once a week
now i have been told on the bearded dragon forum, that .adults over 18 months should be fed every day. They shouldn't be fed superworms as a 100% staple, they should be fed as a semi staple with crickets or roaches as the other protein.Dust the foood with calcium 2 days a week, and the herptivite 1 day a week. and that you are supposed to .feed ~40 bugs a week. which comes out to 5 or so every day. feed protein one sitting every day.based on that info, this is the schedule i came up with:
Feeding schedule: Feed 5 bugs per day/ ~40 bugs per week
Monday-Superworms-w/Calcium
Tuesday-Crickets
Wednesday-Superworms-w/Calcium
Thursday-Crickets
Friday-Superworms
Saturday-Crickets-Herptivite
Sunday-Superworms
who is right? or are we both right?or are we both wrong?

Re: When to feed an ADULT bearded dragon?
My girlfriend breeds dragons and she feeds them crickets everyday dusted with calcium, and they always have a bunch of different greens and fruit to eat.
Personally I think I'd go with a forum agreeing on something other than what some random person told someone else. but chances are there going to be 1298350948 different ways to feed them.

acually all her dragons are fed the same, just babies obviously get smaller crickets and don't get some fruit and they all grow up nice a healthy, I've watched alot of them go from egg to breeding adults.
and I would imagine theres no 1 perfect diet, just like us humans can deciede whats good to eat.
and tiffany I ment no offence, notice he never stated knowledgable.

Re: When to feed an ADULT bearded dragon?
Ive kept tons of beardies, and I know what works for me.
If you feed superworms, stick ten or so on top of their salad's and be done with it.
If its silkworms, feed them five juicy ones and watch them explode all over the cage ( And sometimes on your face if you are too close)
With crickets, throw in about ten and make sure that they have interest in their salad.
Yall have to understand, is that if a dragon is eating its salad the way he should be, they will not eat alot of bugs either if you only give a certain amount or let them eat as many as they want to.
Calcium three times a week, vits once a week.
There are so many ways you can feed a beardie, some ways are better than others. Ive kept around ten adult dragons before for years that have stayed healthy ( With vet checks from very realiable vets) to tell me so.

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat
