    Re: Neglected Balls

I too applaud you for rescuing these wonderful little guys.

The sad fact may be as simple as the owners losing their job in these tough times and no longer being able to afford the snakes, so they turn them loose.
Not much different than the thousands of dogs, cats, ferrets, etc. that find themselves homeless or stuck in a shelter for the same reason.

Or it could be boredom, how many people get a cute little puppy because they "have" to have it, then when the puppy gets bigger and potties all over the house and destroys the furniture and isn't cute anymore, they don't want it. Maybe these guys were purchased as babies because they were cute and how hard could it be to take care of a snake? Then they got bigger and more expensive to care for, and the owners no longer wanted the hassle.

Whatever the reason, they were very fortunate to be found by you, and I'm sure no matter what you decide, they'll get good homes.

    Thanks, I am humbled.

I, too however am unemployed. I have so much time on my hands, that I decided to return to the herp hobby a few months ago and now I'm keeping them. I still had all my tubs and lights and heat mats from years ago, they were all stored.

I've been laid-off 3x in 18 months, all from different jobs and now I'm just gonna take it easy, and I'm enjoying taking on this hobby. I'm one of those guys who can't just sit around doing nothing, and since I have no job I wanna feel as if I am doing something positive... believe me, I'll be pacing around like crazy trying to find something to do around the house, now these snakes are keeping me busy... that and being active around this forum.

But I am humbled by all your thanks.

    Re: Neglected Balls

Yup, I'd have to agree that this is the worst kind of pet purchaser ( I won't even call them owners, which implies they care somehow). They get tired of the pet and then to add insult to injury they don't even care to save it from almost certain death and just leave it to starve to death. People like this strike a really unforgiving chord in me. I don't know how people, like the animal cops, manage. Most of them have my most sincere respect and admiration. If I caught the guy that did this I believe I would leave a mark. There is a reasonable side of me that knows that is probably juvenile but there are a few things in life I just don't deal with all that calmly. Animal cruelty and child abuse bypass most of my logical brain and go straight to my, somebody needs a beating center, in my brain.

I applaud you for saving these lives! There is no excuse for this kind of abandonment. What is wrong with people!?

Im annoyed that people cant just take a little extra time to just sell/ give away there BPs but instead they just leave em to die.
