Re: Shipping Ball Pythons
I thought you could not ship snakes through UPS unless you were using ShipYourReptiles?
Anyways, we ship between 40F and 90F. Anything outside that we recommend that the customer wait until more shipping-suitable weather comes.

You can't, at present. SYR is it for UPS shipments. Fortunately, SYR is also cheap and reliable.
I'm willing to ship when temps are colder than 40, I just pack accordingly, and reduce or eliminate the air holes (they will be fine without air holes, by the way--just don't seal all the box edges completely with tape). If anyone has questions about the ability of heat packs to warm boxes, conduct a simple experiment--pack up a box the way you would with a snake in it (you can put in something to substitute for the snake, even), and insert a temperature probe to the area the snake will be. Give it a half hour to come up to temperature, then sit it outside on a really cold day, for several hours, or even overnight. Check the thermometer. If the temp in the box is safe, you know it's safe to ship in that weather. If it's not, then you know you may have to add another heat pack--redo the test with an additional heat pack, and check your highs and lows.
I think you'll be surprised by how well these boxes hold safe temperatures with heat packs even in very cold weather.
