Gram scale weights are confusing me..

So, I bought a tub to put the snakes in and once I put the tub on the scale I zero-ed (sp??) out the scale, then I put my largest Ball in the tub. The scale read 832g, then I accidentally zero-ed out the scale again (didn't mean to press the button), so I took the tub and snake off of the scale and it went all the way to 1051g. So, that kind of confuses me.. is the snake 832g, or 1051g?? Here are some pictures if I didn't do that good of a job explaining:

Your snake weighs 832, it now says minus 1051 because you took the weight off. Tare (zero) it back out. You did it correctly the first time.

The 1051 weight that you saw is the combined weight of the snake and the tub. When you zero out what's on the scale it will show negative weight.
