    How accurate is the reading

    Just wondering if anyone knows if a reading from a Corallife digital therm reading is 100% accurate?

    If it is a digital thermometer with a probe it is probably fairly accurate.

    One of those cheapo Coralifes? I have one that is pretty accurate, and have had three that were way off, anywhere from 3-15 degrees. Double check everything!

    Those thermometers are NOT accurate.

    I had three of them and they were all different by as much as 6 degrees when placed in the same location.

    Use acurite instead

    Might not be 100% but even if it is only a degree off it won't hurt. I would be more worried about testing it to make sure it's readings are consistent than spot on. Erratic readings or inconsistent temps tend to be more problematic, especially in egg incubation.

    Hi,

    I saw a good tip on here somewhere - put multiple thermometers out so they are all reading the same thing and mark the differences between them on a sticky label and glue it to the unit ( -1, +2 etc ).

    Obviously this would work best if you have one you feel is accurate to use as the base measurement.
